Hot tapping — also called pressure tapping or line tapping — is the process of drilling into a pipeline or vessel while it remains in service.
A tapping fitting and full-bore isolation valve are fixed to the live line, either welded or mechanically clamped. A tapping machine mounts to the valve, and a cutter advances under controlled feed to remove a coupon of pipe wall while the line stays at operating pressure. The coupon is retained inside the cutter, the machine withdraws, the valve closes — and your new branch is live.
Done correctly, the line never stops flowing and nothing is released to atmosphere.

Welding is carried out by qualified welders working to approved procedures, and every hot tap is preceded by wall-thickness verification using our in-house non-destructive testing capability. We do not tap a line we have not measured.

Fitting Installation

Pressure Test

Handover
